To celebrate Parents’ Day, Amitabha Malaysia held a groundbreaking ceremony for the renovation and expansion of the Old Folks Home, and a microfilm promotion event. On 1st June, Saturday, we received tremendous support from many kindhearted persons, with many public figures attending the event. Mr. Tee Boon Tsong, State Assemblyman of Senai, together with seven village heads from Kulai and other representatives from various Chinese associations, attended the event as guests of honour. The event started with Laughter Yoga, which created much vitality and liveliness to the morning atmosphere. The Laughter Yoga instructors also brought laughter and joy to all the elderly and guests. Other activities on the day include a singing and dancing performance by the children from Amitabha Buddhist Orphanage, as well as Parents’ Day cake-cutting ceremony and groundbreaking ceremony. Nowadays, the population of societies is aging rapidly, and the problems of children abandoning their parents continue to rise.
We hope to increase our bed capacity of the Old Folks Home from 35 to 80. And we hope to gain valuable support from the public.
